Our caroling at Esplanade on the 20th was not as good as we expected.

We need to buck up people! Listen more and tune to each other!

Please conserve your voices and make sure you drink lots of water!

Honeyed water is also quite a good remedy for phlegm or irritation.

And I will be buying one small bottle of NIN JIOM for the session on the 24th!

Hello choir SYF is just 3 and a half days from now! I'm guessing you already know the routine by now but please remember to take care of your voices and get plenty of rest so you can give us your best on both Monday and on the competition day itself.

Drink plenty of water and NO EATING THE BANNED FOODS. The banned foods are fried or spicy stuff, chocolate and anything that you know is not good for your throat.

Yes this means no curry for you Terence.

Bring your costume for an attire check on Monday. BRING ALL THE NECESSARY ITEMS. The guys will have to bring your shoes, socks (black and not ankle socks), white shirt, blazer, tie and pants. Girls bring your dress, sash, shoes and necklace. Guys who forget/are unable to bring all the items on monday are to look for Joshua or Gemonn in class 4C or 4F respectively and let them inspect the items that you missed on Tuesday. Girls please report to Kimberly in 3H

On Wednesday you are to attend the flag-raising ceremony as per usual and report to the AVT once it is over. Lower secondary members you do not have to take part in the morning exercise. Remember that ABSOLUTE FOCUS IS EXPECTED OF YOU on the competition date. No screaming or straining your voice ok.

We expect you to know how to conduct yourselves on the day of competition and on the days prior. Remember that our goal is not merely to get a GwH award, but also to bring out the musicality in the songs. Remember the things we have done today and try your best to do those things on stage and bring the music to life.

hello AHchoir we are having a choral exchange with Paris Ris Secondary School choir next saturday (12 March) and with NYJC on next next next saturday (26 March)

Holiday practices will be on the 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th of March. Try your best to keep these days and make it for all the practices.

Weekday practices will begin from 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. with a one hour lunch break and weekend practices will be held as per normal. If you want to take a re-audition you are free to request one from Mr Toh whenever he comes for practices so continue to work hard.

Hey everybody this might be just a little late but a happy Lunar New Year to all you guys. Hope you got a good haul of angpows and had your fair share of bakkwa (because i sure did) and remembered to drink plenty of water like Mr Toh said.

YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW THIS BUT I'M GONNA SAY THIS AGAIN

OMG WE HAVE SEC ONES NOW.

It seems only yesterday when we were one of those really tiny creatures in short pants and all that you saw during the auditions hehe those were the times.

Anyways, we expect you to make our new members feel welcome in your section and ALTO GIRLS PLEASE DO NOT HARASS YOUR 10+ 小弟弟S PLEASE.

ORIENTATION DAY activities will start tomorrow after a short sectionals and you are required to wear a black tee and P.E. shorts as we are having wet games. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN CONFISCATION OF ALL PERSONAL ITEMS OF CLOTHING.

Just kidding but you are strongly encouraged NOT to wear your long pants (for upper sec guys) or skirt (for the girls)

Also, please bring $5 to pay for your FnB for that day and inform your parents that choir will end at about 7pm. DINNER WILL BE PROVIDED.

hey guys and gals!

Choir practice for this year has officially ended, and we look forward to seeing you next year! :D We hope that all of you can put in a little effort to do some voice training on your own during the holidays, you can start with humming exercises as well as the various warmup techniques that you have learnt from your SLs and Mr Toh (while keeping in mind his instructions for you during the voice classes) during the past practices when you have the time and remember to use your diaphragm while doing these exercises so that you can emerge as a stronger singer when we see you after the holidays. Also, please remember to revise your notes for the various songs, so that you do not lose what you have learnt for the past semester. This is really essential because it will save you (and your SLs) a lot of time and effort in helping you re-learn the songs.

Of course, a new batch of Sec 1s will be joining us next year and we will be doing the Glee songs as part of the CCA showcase, so if you want the solo lines... YOU MUST LEARN THE SOLO LINES. Just go though the scores because the tune is really simple and pop-ish. You can also watch the videos online (they are everywhere!) and just sing along.

Also, have a good rest for the remainder of your holidays and don't forget to do your holiday assignments! :D

hey everybody! As you already know (you better!) the big day is just 1 day away! Make sure to drink plenty plenty plentyplentyplenty of water and REST YOUR VOICE. No overly-loud conversations, screaming or anything like that from now until the performance is over. This is not advice, IT'S AN ORDER.

Also, no spicy, fried food or spicy fried food for the matter. You may also want to avoid phlegm-inducing stuff like milk or soft drinks. NO SOFT DRINKS. AT ALL. If you have a (touch wood) sore throat now or if you happen to wake up with one tomorrow, honey will help to soothe your throat so make sure you have some before heading out tomorrow. Lemonade or orange juice can help to get rid of phlegm and cure blocked or runny noses and take those vitamin C tablets if you have some because they're awesome and good for you too.

GET PLENTY OF SLEEP TOO. You need all the energy you can get for tomorrow because fatigue won't do you any good for the long day ahead.

Go through your scores and try to memorise your notes so that you will not have to bury your head in the scores on stage.

MJC choir concert:

13th May, which is the last day of exams unless you are an art, music, or chinese lit student. Or a Sec 2, because you have Math on Friday. It starts at 7.30 p.m. and lasts for 90 minutes with intermission. Tickets at $10 for students and $20 for adults and it's held at the Esplanade Theater. Yes I even have the link below so you can check out the details. Like the writeup and stuff.

22nd May, well after MYEs so you can go for both concerts now. It starts at 7.30 p.m. at the Victoria Concert Hall. Ah well. It wasn't THAT bad now was it? LOL.
The comm really appreciates everyone for their hard work and effort in making this cheer a success, though we met so much complications, esp that MUSIC CAN'T BE PLAYED -.-
But we didn't give up and still went with the cheer so KUDOS to everyone :D

This guy is really a professional. Not only he can sing such a wide range, he was creative and smart enough to create a virtual choir collage of HIMSELF. And the music he created is VERY VERY good.

Hello choir, this is your P.O posting again :D

Firstly, let me announce that the choir pin has finally been made and distributed :D HOORAY.
I apologise to those who were unhappy with the design but I hope you would understand that I've tried my best to incorporate the logo we have on our choir tee and the collar pin design together. Ya, I really tried -.-. And no matter how many designs I come up with, there will always be people that will be unsatisfied with it so I advise you guys to have a positive and flexible mindset :) For those who didn't receive your choir pin yet, please come and find me :D

Secondly, the choir noticeboard is near completion, it is just lacking of the words in which I will fill in by next week latest :D

In a bid to revive the dead forum, the comm has decided that we would create accounts for everyone and pass you guys the username and password asap. For those who have already created an account and your usernames are weird, meaning ur name is not there and instead is some kind of act cool or act emo name, pls CHANGE it to at least a username with ur name in it such as manjingXD or *~Manjing!, basically must have your middle and last name in it :D this applies to those who are changing the given usernames also. Hello choir, this is your VP Jojo :)

First of all, let me remind you that the next practice is on Friday, after school. Tomorrow's a holiday, so please do not report to the music room as no one would be there with you! :O Enjoy your National Day holiday ya?

This is officially my first time posting on the choir blog, and I know I'd better be posting something substantial. Pardon my english as I'm pretty beat and is lacking of vocabulary.

After reading alot of your blogs, getting verbal feedback and reading your body language in choir, I decided to talk to you guys, specifically the younger members about the importance of having a role as a choir member. Do not think of yourself as any other choir member just because you are a junior, or because you are not in the committee, but remember that every single one of you, I'm being really honest, plays a part in the choir. You are all important to the choir. To the committee, to me.

Why do you think Mr Toh, and the committee asks for the attendance everyday? Firstly, it is of course to upkeep the discipline of the choir, but Mr Toh have mentioned it before, he asks for the attendance to check the sound of the choir, what kind of a sound is missing if so and so is absent, so on..

Let me share something with you that you all should already know. I was a rebellious student. I cannot say that I'm not rebellious now, but I believe I have changed for the better. From sec 1 all the way to half my year in sec 2, I disliked choir. I even hated choir a few times. I was one of those people, which I believe some of you are, who go to choir practice one day, go home and start to doubt what you are doing.

Have you ever felt hesitant and reluctant everytime you start or end your day with choir practice, but when you attend the practice itself, it's actually not that bad? But as you leave the music room, and go home, and have time alone to yourself, do you sometimes think of choir as a lonely place, that you do not belong? And then to figure out that it's actually fine to attend choir practice? The cycle goes on and on..

Let me tell you, my dearest members, it's a feeling that everybody would have once before. I had this feeling till the day when my SLs gave me the opportunity to take Altos for sectionals during the holidays in 2008. I almost cried at the chance. How could it be possible, that they have faith in me when I was one of the people who did not even attend practices most of the time? It was definitely my own turning point and chance at redemption.

I know it is hard to maintain the passion if everyday you feel like you are not contributing to the choir, you are not involved, or if you feel like you have no friends in choir. Let me teach you how to deal with it.

REASONS WHY PEOPLE DO NOT COME FOR PRACTICES :

I HAVE NO TRUE FRIENDS IN CHOIR.
If this sentence applies to you, take it easy. Bear with it. I always thought I could never click with the people in my batch, but look at us now! We all have to break free from the mentality that you only get best friends from your class, anywhere but choir. All I can tell you is, take it easy. Sec 2s, I'm glad that you guys are taking the initiate to try and bond as much as possible, but still, take it easy! It will always start out as awkward in the beginning. Believe me, the fruits of your labour will show at the end of secondary two. When you are approaching handover, it really is the time where you realise that you will be stuck with those people no matter what, so you better make the best of it :P It really is not hard, I'm practically in love with my committee members now!

I AM SCARED OF THE SENIORS.
Okay. This is something you will get too. Do not worry! We are all very approachable! But I understand if we intimidate you sometimes, I know we're all very assertive, have high expectations and all. It's okay, as long as your conscience is clear :P I'm kidding. None of the seniors will make personal insinuations or individualise you from the choir. This is something every member will go through, just be yourself okay.

You guys have to understand that we have high expectations of you BECAUSE our mentors have high expectations of us, BECAUSE they know we can do much better than what we are doing. Remember what Mr Toh said? There are no boundaries, the choir is just going to break more frontiers with every step we take.

Maybe you're getting bored of what I'm writing, so I'll end this soon. I know that it is hard for you to maintain your passion in this choir unless you take up a role and feel like you have the responsibility to contribute to the choir. So to all the understudies, persevere! You guys are doing fine.

And to all the choir members, all of you are not seen as just juniors. You are all seen as potential understudies, potential comm members. It's a matter of showing it or not. One very good way to show it, was during the NDP rehearsal. We had a very small group that day, right? In times like this, nobody should hide and depend on other seniors. It's a chance to step up and take the lead, and show us that you are someone to depend on. Not someone who depends on.

One piece of advice from me to sum it all up : DON'T GIVE UP.
Don't give up on your first two years, it is tough, it is hard, but persevere.
Don't give up on the choir, and DEFINITELY don't let the seniors give up on you.
Don't give up on the music, even if you do want to do it for the choir yet, do it for yourself.

The first two years in choir had been an arduous journey for me too. I obviously gave up along the way, but my seniors picked me up and pulled me back. And now, I'm currently a pon-star-turned-vice-president. Can you imagine, if the seniors gave up on me too? I know we might seem intimidating to you, believe me, I was very afraid of my seniors. Now, I realise what they all really meant when they said "It's all for your own good."

Sec 1s, I have so much faith in you, I cannot describe it. I admire your perseverance, your patience, your stamina, and your faith in the choir too. You all pulled through so many performances in your first 7 months in choir! Your first concert was even held at the Esplanade. I would admit that the reason that I admire you, is because I know that the Jojo in 2007 would not, and could not have done the same. She lacked of everything a passionate and knowledge-hungry choir member should have. If you continue your drive and determination, I am very sure you guys will be a successful batch in future. All the best! :)

Sec 2s, I hope you guys will continue to do the same. Many people we have lost from your batch, some we're losing. Keep holding on, your efforts will be paid off very soon. Next year, you are taking over already. I advice for you guys to think of how you want to contribute to choir already, set a goal early so you guys will be prepared for Elections. Do me proud!

I'm a real life example of someone who pulled through my first two years in choir and in the end surviving, with the help of my seniors. Don't give up on choir, and the choir will never give up on you! :)

After watching it, I went crazy too.
This is like, a "virtual choir" where people from around the world sings together in their own webcam and microphones, then it is combined together into this whole collage of singers. Fantastic!

Hello ahschoir :), this is your P.O posting again. yawns, I know its 6+ am and I'm out of my mind -.-

Anyways, the collar pin is now manufacturing and we will receive it soon :) The following image below is the design of it, and last minute comments and changes now is not viable because they are already manufacturing it so HAHA. The manufacturer said it was nice too :D (P.S I saw other choir's pin design and it was...nvm -.-)

The design is derived from the logo our choir tee has infront, but can you imagine that logo becoming a collar pin -.-? So, I've made some changes but still retain that blue-ish pink-ish viney theme on it. Yeah. It is silver plated :)

Will inform you guys when it arrives :D and oh, the blue will be in a lighter shade than the one shown here hahas.

About the Anglican High Choir

The AHS Choir in the last few years has witnessed unprecedented growth and accomplishment under the inspired baton of our resident conductor, Terrence Toh. A few of these achievements include the coveted Gold with Honours at the 2007 and 2009 SYF Central Judging for Choir and a Gold at the International Festival of Songs in Olomouc, Czech Republic in 2008. However, these accolades are not the choir’s only source of pride and joy, but rather the instilling of a passion for the choral art form and a deep desire to bring music to our community. With this focus in mind, the choir has sung in a host of community based performances, including our annual concerts and as invited guests at various ceremonies held by government and community organizations. For Terrence Toh and the Anglican High School Choir, no stage is too small nor informal, no challenge too insurmountable nor unnerving, as long as we stay true to the music we make.

Hello dear juniors ♥

SYF is right ahead, and the seniors will always be supporting you guys!

Be positive alright! No matter how tired or exhausted you are, dont ever give up! If you're always saying things like " 只剩下___天, SYF 就要来了" (there's only ___ days till syf.), SMACK yourself please. Instead, I think that " 我们还有___天!" (We still have ___days!) sounds so much better :) The things you think/say to yourself will affect your mentality somehow, and in the end, it might affect your stamina/determination/performance etc.
Optimism is important! :D

Don't be discouraged - it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock!

Mr Toh mentioned to all of you today that the seniors from previous batches do not have a special talent for singing or whatever. It is true! So dont keep thinking that the seniors can achieve GwH or other achievments because they're superb/talented and that you're just ordinary/plain. Smack yourself again please! You guys can do it as well!!! :D

Here's a quote for you all, I think it's really relevant!

Think about it people, alright :) !

Hi all. Here's a the Miao Jia explanation. Both english and chinese are used to explain, depending on which is easier to understand. The words in red are explanations for individual words/phrases. The words in blue are meanings for each sentance. I know the chi is damn chim, so I have watered them down to plain and easy-to-understand- chinese.

(序曲) The Calling

*Note: As the title of this movement is called, this passage depicts the calling between two lovers with the male and female soloists Yoyoyos. The rest of the choir humming represent the wind, so remember to be GENTLE and OPEN HUM.

1st Movt (思春曲)The anticipation:

*Note: This movement, as the title suggests, speaks of the anticipation between two lovers meeting. (like DUH) I'm only typing this OBVIOUS statement for the sake of all those peeps who've been singing blindly all these while.

Hello choir. I'm not going to give a speech about how we should all kowtow to your seniors and give your utmost respect to them. Well, since I'm a Sec Four, and I'm kinda going to retire soon, I just thought I'll post here for the first time.

Hello choir, haven't been here for a long long long time already. Decided to write something since Sec4s are going to "graduate" quite soon from choir.

I know everyone's working hard so keep it up :) It's sort of a final hurdle, give up now - it's a waste. I know it's tough to keep everyday in the week available for choir but this is just temporary.

Please continue to be in attendance for every practice with and without Mr Toh so that we would be able to progress more efficiently. We have to just focus and bring out the best that we can so that SYF2009 won't be over with regrets.

I'm sure that if we're able to bring out the essence of music making on SYF stage, all this would be worth it. As Mr Toh said, Something that boils down in AHchoir tradition is the die-hard spirit. Although, We had always been able to create magic on stage, let's not take this for granted. You reap what you sow. I don't care what the outcome is but as long as I've put my best, no regrets.

And one last thing, always remember, "Enjoy the music you make."

hey choir. this is the first time that im posting here. might probably well be the last. because i just found out the password and the username which i will surely forget very soon. anyways. im sorry i couldnt make it on wednesday for prac because i had tuition i couldnt change. so i was kinda shocked when i heard that mr toh had walked out on you guys. ok lets just say dont let this bring u guys down. cos you're good enough to get a gwh. definitely. just believe u can.

so i was wondering about what you guys are going to do now that this has happened. anqi down there has said it all - u kind of deserve it. how many times do you find yourselves listening to the same old thing again and again. it gets sucky and boring. and ure not going to censor my post. but yes, it sucks, and its boring, and i know, because half of the time im the one standing up there in front of you wondering again and again whether i should just give up or not. today when i went for the sec1s and sec2s rehearsals i could see that you guys werent really attentive. although youre not in syf now you will be 2 years from now. hello? doors never close. practise hard and take over your sls. destiny.

so. first thing i wanna say. respect your leaders. please. although its just a few weeks, a few practises more, bear with them. they're human, and humans have limits. dont test them, dont cross them, and then blame them when they scold you. its just pure stupid. theyre under a whole lot of pressure trying to get you guys up to standard and then again youre in a world of your own. i sound harsh. i know. but too bad. mr toh is human too. and he has more on his mind than just plain old AHS choir. so when many things happen to a person, hes bound to blow. so yea. anqi ks me again. it wasnt a matter of whether it was coming or not, it was simply a matter of when.

right. second thing i wanna say. anqi is WRONG when she says screw the past. if i knew how to use italics and bold i would. and make the font 384732842389 square or something like that. but i dont. so it doesnt matter. but dont forget the past. ok you can screw it, but take it as a lesson, a reminder to our problems. what wont kill you will make you stronger, so let this make you stronger. a person is defined by the things he or she goes through, so learn from this. so not only listen, but the key word is to remember. if one cant remember, one never learns.

last thing. work hard, try your very best, to the end of your limits. improve non stop. push your boundaries beyond the horizon. you ppl are the next batch of seniors, the next batch of ppl who command respect from your own juniors, the next batch of ppl who actually run the bloody choir. you probably feel that this year's comm hasnt done a superb job in their duties and i admit that has been the case. so you guys definitely can do a better job than us. stand up to it. believe you can. for your own improvement, for your seniors who have tried so hard thus far, for all the other batches who have built the choir to what it was today, and for your dear conductor, work a little harder, for just a little longer. give yourselves and your seniors a syf to rememeber, to be proud of. believe you can, and you will.

Yes, I am sure that after today's incident, many of you are feeling really *censored* up right now. So to all you troubled souls out there, I have something to say.

The things that Mr Toh said today aren't words that were spewed out in the heat of the moment. They are, in fact true and have been real problems choir had had for a long time. Real problems that choir had swept under the rug for a long time. Things like lack of focus, not being able to retain new things you learn, aren't those familiar scenarios played out during sectionals?

Hence, the result of an outburst like this is somewhat inevitable. Although it is true that the way Mr Toh reacted just now may not be the most diplomatic, but we must remember that he is under a lot of stress. A lot of stress caused by us.

So, for the scolding we got just now, I must say that choir, you deserved it. We deserved it.

Having said that, there's nothing left to say about anything on our part. Instead, I have a message to tell all of you. There is no point in grumbling or trying to justify for yourselves, or try to reinvent the facts into a situation whereby you yourself is innocent. Because by harbouring such ill thoughts, we will be stuck at this point. Dwelling about today's incident only makes us unable to move on. So my bottom line is: screw the past, bite the bullet and pia like no mother. There is no time to dwell anymore.

I'm sure many of you are feeling upset and disappointed with the performance ytd.
So, it's really time we put in much much much more effort into our singing.
From now on, i hope that you guys, especially th Sec Ones, will stop seeing choir practices as merely a time and place for you people to play and fool around. It has never been th case in this choir. Yes, there are play times for us but when it's time to work hard, you're supposed to put in effort into your singing and etc.

Like what Mr Toh said, he really loves this choir a lot. If you don't feel his love yet, just visit his blog and look for all his posts about us. Just put yourself into his shoes, would you want to love a choir who only knows how to play but doesn't know how to appreciate music, much less make good music? If that's the case, i can only say that this is simply not AHS Choir that Mr Toh & all our seniors are familiar with.

4 more months to SYF. If you are easily satisfied with a bronze or silver that we do not deserve at all. By all means, continue to play and slack around.

The Choral Fest performance is tmr!! Here is the general outline for tmr's schedule:
- Prac starts at 9.30am sharp (pls dont be late!)
- Sectionals
- Mr Toh will be coming from 11.30 to 1.30pm(tentative timing)
- Lunch
- More Practice
- The bus will leave for VCH at about 5+
- Preparation
- Concert starts at 7.30pm (we're the 3rd choir performing)

Things to Bring:

For girls:
1. Court shoes
2. Make up such as:
- foundation
- blusher
- Lipstick/Lipgloss
- Eye shadow (preferably blue,silver,purple or colours that are easily visible)

* Girls with long hair-tie a ponytail (you might be required to tie a bun later on)

Choir members who went overseas during this year end holiday are to produce materials as evidence to show that they have went overseas. This is for Mr Tan to be aware and keep track of the attendance of the choir

Such materials can be:
1) Photocopied copy of passport with stamps of destination
2) Photocopied copy of boarding Pass with YOUR name
3) Photocopied copy of any other travel documents, such as receipt of overseas trip, with YOUR name.

Specifications:
- The photocopied copy of passport must include the stamp chops of BOTH date of departure and arrival
- It can be scanned via your own scanner or photocopied.
- Photo taken with camera/camera phone are not allowed.
- Please do not send your documents via email.

CHOIR!

This is a super last minute update on the costumes so please help disseminate the information as quickly as you will.

There are some things that I didn't mention to y'all because everyone was so busy rushing off after choir. Yes, so the poor me didn't get to brief the the girls about what's to happen on Thursday.

Anyway, here's the latest updates.

GIRLS -

1. Girls are to bring $70 for the costume on Tuesday's practice (9th Dec); the breakdown is as such:

Gown -$65, sash - $5.

Gowns and sashes will be given out on Tuesday, so please bring your money. If I don't receive the money, you will have no costume. And no costume means you're not performing. As simple as this.

2. For this performance we will be wearing the black court shoes.

For Sec One girls, please borrow the shoes from someone because this will be the only time AHchoir will be wearing these black shoes again. The reason for the black court shoes this time round is because no pretty, stable silver heels were found in time, plus many many girls are complaining about the height. I have an extra pair (size 6) so first-come-first-serve, you may contact me for it.

For senior girls, please use the same pair of black court shoes. If for whatever reason you have disposed of your shoes, go borrow a pair.

All Sec One girls are to bring their black court shoes for checking on Tuesday, and seniors who are unsure about their shoes please bring them as well.

3. I will brief everyone about hairstyles and such on the next practice.

We will have a complete(?) change from our previous images. Nothing really drastic, just that I expect a lot of whining from the majority.

That's all for girls. Now guys listen up:

GUYS -

On Tuesday you are expected to bring all these things by hook or by crook.

1. Long-sleeved white shirt.

It would be preferred if you borrow from someone your own size, because Mr Toh's suggestion was to change the guys' images completely. I will look into that after the concert, so probably you may have to fork out more money to get blazers.

2. Midnight blue tie

Normal tie size, not skinny ties. Dark blue, close to black.

3. Long black pants

Just to clarify, the pants must not be of denim material. It must cover your ankles when your black court shoes are worn.

4. Black court shoes

Like I said, these shoes have no laces -.- Most people get these shoes from Bata so you can go there to look for them.

Hello, all 2008 graduates of Anglican High School Choir!

I need FIFTEEN people from different sections for our AHS alumni choir carolling gig at Isetan Scotts!

so far, i have confirmed myself, jenna, leongying, elissa, pamela, chia-a-a-a-a, chuinchi, kaho, kayat,choy, jongoh, bella & i need MORE people!

okay and see, i need you people to train your favourite choral technique, BLASTING. cos we're FIFTEEN people needing to cover SIX LEVELS worth of space, so we need to be LOUD. not that that is or ever was much of a problem, but please go revise all your blasting techniques and support and all because we need a good start to our alumni choir reputation. therefore, PLEASE dont go and spoil your throats anytime soon k!

so, since there are only 15 spaces we're currently limiting it only to our 2008 batch. if we cant fill it then im sure the seniors will love to join us (:

i need people who are free from the 19-24th december, drop me a sms telling me what days you're free and all. each of the 15 carollers will get a 50dollar isetan voucher, courtesy of isetan and we get 300dollars/gig to be wired into our bank account. so if you cant make it one of the days or smth, get someone to stand in for you and split the voucher (though i dont know how you can do that)

besides that, i need you guys to sms me if you are joining the alumni choir. this is regardless of whether or not you're in the carolling gig this time round. we have to decide on a name and it cannot be like anglican chorale cos if its anyth to do with ahs the school will kope our money and it'll be byebye to alumni choir teeshirt/costume/chalet/whatever.

also, as a side note, we'll probably be performing in the esplanade in the middle of next year as a guest item in the main choir's thingy. details to follow.

- Choice of Committee; Max. $1

9) Ringing of hand phone after 3 times
- $1.50

10) Damaged music room facilities or missing scores
- Report to logistics and the committee will decide if there is a need for any payment.

11) Usage of hand phones anytime during choir (other than breaks)
- $1

12) Failure to pay up for any of the funds (e.g. for costumes/choir day etc)
- Interest will be charged accordingly (decision of the treasurer)

*Note: Committee members will have 2 times of the punishment. Interest of X2 after every month from day fined.
If the mistakes are repeatedly made by the same person, the committee has the right to increase/double the fines accordingly.

Procedures and Regulations
1) Choir will start after 40mins after school

2) 5minutes grace is given until fine/punishment takes effect.

3) Shoes to be left outside on the shoe racks, bags can be placed either inside or outside the choir room.

4) Rules also apply during sectionals (no eating/ using handphones/ PSP etc.)

5) Respect each other regardless of section, gender or committee

6) Chairs are to be lifted up and shift before and after practices, not dragged

7) Any faulty equipment must be reported to the logistics manager as soon as possible

8) During sectionals, everyone is to be serious and listen to the section leaders, breaks will be given by the section leaders accordingly.

9) Please be aware of your own attire at all times

10) Choir would usually end by 6:00pm, unless otherwise stated

11) Every choir practice is important

12) Most importantly, come to choir will an enthusiastic and positive heart.

It’s imperative that you follow all the rules and regulations.

a new post after quite a long time
recommending some choral pieces that i like to choir members
i posted this in the forum as well
repost here in case some ppl cant access to the forum
but do make time to make it active

Sleep: Light song, dynamics and stuffs. Do hear UMchoirs and Whitacre's own choir doing this song. Famous Piece tried by MaoYong's choir as well. Said to be Mr Whitacre's best written piece. I think I'm biased, i still think Lux aurumque is better. I tried both songs with my group of choristers, sleep was a pretty easy to learn piece but i still feel Lux Aurumque was a stronger song.

MuYangGuNiang: Haunting Melody, hear the one arranged by Mr Kwei. In chinese language. Oh ya, Mr toh hates chinese.

Illay Gandangan: Rhythmic piece, lots of dynamics. Basically belting folk piece. This piece is pretty "lengmen" so you cant really find it common around the Internet.

WadeInTheWater: Hear the one by "Sharing a new song choir". That soloist faired very well. We got the scores a pretty long time ago (about the same time as Ubi Caritas) but didnt touch on it.

Credo: Another powerful piece by Ralph Hoffmann. About Christianity, the crucification and stuffs. Lots of dynamics. Hear the one is his album. I think Maoyong's choir faired well: can find from Youtube.

DorvenDalai: A Rhythmic Piece our choir did reasonably well. Hear the one by Austin College, its good.

LukLukLumbu: The sec4s must have heard and loved this one. Also a rhythmic Piece. Pretty slow to start but ends as a fast and catchy piece.

Meplalian: Interpretation- as the Mimic of dancers and Instruments. Another piece that plays on atmosphere. One of the songs for SYF2007. Mr Toh's love. Hear Mr Kwei conduct this on youtube.

Pamugan: Hear the one Catholic High School did for SYF2007. About a hunter and a bird. Well written piece and they sung well.

KasarMieLaGahi: Another piece we did for SYF2007. Dreading and powerful piece about the Earth and how tired it is. This one really makes you tired. It is actually commented that the rhythm for this piece is hard to get especially when the choreography comes in but I think it didnt really hindered us.

Today was no prac all celebrations
Some Sec3s organised party for the leaving sec4s
How thoughtful!
Then the different sections took grp pics
On stairs, canteen, room, sectional areas

N in choir room..
Mr.Tan browsed through on the screen the photos he took during SYF day
Some were nice but mostly sparx
Well..He acknowledged that theres onli one pic he lyked but did not revealed 0.o
The songs we sung on syf day, which I will be postin on imeem.com & then placin it on my blog, were also played ^^
They were recorded ILLEGALLY lolx

Ok i was shocked when some non-syf grp ppl came to tell mi dat they start to dislike choir..
I noticed some avoidin the celebrations & photo-takin as well
This is it..the cons of SYF
But ppl no matter u r in syf or not u r still part of ahchoir
Theres seriously no need to feel inferior..
